Market
The market for antibiotics represents, with close to 27 billion USD, one of the largest categories of biopharmaceutical therapeutics. While the identification of de novo antibiotic compounds dramatically slowed down since 1960 and the focus shifted to modifications of existing antibiotic-families, we believe that the successful therapeutic treatment of bacterial infections, especially infections caused by multi-resistant strains, in the close future will strongly benefit from dual-intervention strategies, like followed by BioVersys.
